A presentation of the “AUL Japanologists” YouTube channel project was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL). The project was implemented under the leadership of Shafaq Mustafayeva, a lecturer at the Department of Regional Studies of Eastern Countries and the author of the channel concept, who teaches the courses “Culture and Art of Japan” and “Gender Issues in Japan”.

Within the framework of the presentation, students of Group 471 majoring in Japanese Studies showcased their independent assignments for the course “Culture and Art of Japan” in the form of documentary films dedicated to Japanese culture, art, and aesthetic values. This initiative aims to increase access to documentary video materials about Japan in the Azerbaijani language and to create an additional native-language resource for future students of Japanese Studies.

At the same time, independent assignments for the course “Gender Issues in Japan” were prepared and presented based on survey research and video recordings. The results of surveys conducted within Azerbaijani society for each topic were analyzed comparatively with Japanese society, yielding significant findings in terms of gender equality, social roles, and existing challenges.

The project contributed to the development of new skills among students, the revelation of their creative potential, and their self-discovery in new directions.

Overall, the “AUL Japanologists” YouTube channel is regarded as an important project in terms of enriching the teaching process at AUL with innovative approaches and presenting the academic and creative capacities of young Japanologists to the wider public.

It is planned that the project will be continued in the coming years under the guidance of lecturer Shafaq Mustafayeva within the Japanese Studies program.
