A scientific seminar was held at the Department of German Lexicology and Stylistics operating under the Faculty of English and German Languages of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL).

The seminar was organized by Associate Professor Ulduz Aslanova, Doctor of Philology, and took place at the German Reading Hall. The event was dedicated to the topic “The Semantic Power of Grammatical Gender in the German Language.”

During the seminar, the influence of grammatical gender on the semantics of the German language, the absolute valency characteristics of certain nouns, as well as the role of grammatical gender in shaping semantic shades of meaning were extensively explained. A comparative analysis of the grammatical categories of nouns in German and Azerbaijani was also conducted, with similarities and differences between the two languages discussed on the basis of concrete facts and examples.

Participants engaged in discussions on contemporary linguistic approaches to the topic, the functional-semantic features of grammatical gender in linguistics, and the unique morphological structure of the German language compared to Azerbaijani.

At the end of the seminar, questions from students and instructors were answered, and the contributions of such academic events to linguistic research were highly appreciated.
