Divali, the national holiday of India was held at AUL

On October 20, the University of Indian Language and Culture Center celebrated the Divali holiday, the national holiday of India at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL). The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Azerbaijan  Sanjay Rana, university professors and students.

Speaking at the opening speech, Assistant Professor of International Relations, Associate Professor Jale Garibova greeted the ambassador and congratulated him on the occasion of the Divali holiday on behalf of the university administration. Noting that the event will give the participants an opportunity to get acquainted with Indian culture, J. Garibova thanked the Center for Indian Language and Culture for its organization.

Ambassador S. Rana talked about the history and features of the Divali holiday. He noted that Divali, a festival of lights and lamps, is one of the oldest holidays in India and coincides with the darkest night of the year. According to the ambassador, this festival is related to the Indian god Rama. Later, the ambassador briefed the audience about the content of the ancient Indian epos, Ramayana.

S. Rana presented a gift to J. Garibova for the contribution to the activity of the Center for Indian Language and Culture for his contribution to the cooperation between the Embassy of India and AUL, the rector of AUL, the active member of ANAS Kamal Abdulla.

The artistic part of the event featured a series of Indian dances and a dance based on the popular Azerbaijani song "Sari Gelin" performed by students and center's staff. Songs and poems were performed in Indian language.

At the end of the event rector K.Abdulla once again congratulated Ambassador on the occasion of the Divali Holiday, reminding that Ambassador Rana was the first lecturer at the "Ambassador's Time" club. The rector thanked the ambassador for this. Stressing that the relations between India and Azerbaijan are always at a high level, the rector expressed confidence that these relations will be further developed.

At the end, the rector K.Ablulla and Ambassador S. Rana were awarded with certificates by the students participating in the event.
