At Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), the Scientific Library and Information Service Center (EKIXM) and the Doctoral Studies Department jointly organized a scientific-practical seminar titled “Requirements for Doctoral and Master’s Students (presentation of scientific articles and theses).” The aim of the event was to support doctoral students in properly structuring their scientific activities, integrating into international scientific platforms, writing scientific articles, and correctly submitting them to indexed databases.

In her opening remarks, Jamila Aliyeva, Director of AUL EKIXM, spoke about the development of scientific activity at the university, information support for doctoral students, opportunities for using scientific resources, and the role of the library in this field. She emphasized the importance of improving research quality, selecting reliable sources, and developing writing skills in accordance with international standards.

The main speaker of the seminar, Associate Professor Pərviz Kazımi, an employee of AUL EKIXM, delivered an extensive and detailed presentation. He discussed the stages of scientific activity for doctoral students, the structure of scientific articles and theses, writing ethics, citation rules, prevention of plagiarism, and proper presentation of research results.

The presentation also provided detailed explanations about international indexed databases — Scopus, Web of Science, Clarivate, Elsevier, Springer, ERIH PLUS, ULAKBIM, Index Copernicus, and other platforms. Pərviz Kazımi informed participants about publication requirements in these databases, criteria for selecting journals, ways to identify predatory journals, as well as principles for calculating scientific impact indicators.

Later, AUL’s Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Həmidə Aliyeva, highly valued the relevance of the event. She noted that a professional approach, proper guidance, and conducting research in accordance with international standards are essential in the scientific activity of doctoral students.

At the end of the seminar, the university’s faculty members, master’s students, and doctoral students posed questions related to scientific work, engaged in discussions on practical issues, and received detailed answers from the speaker.

It should be noted that the event is of great importance in helping doctoral students develop a more systematic approach to scientific activity in line with global academic standards.
