Roundtable “Victory Lives in Our Spirit” Held at ADU
On November 7, the Department of Linguoculturology at Azerbaijan University of Languages (ADU) hosted a roundtable titled “Victory Lives in Our Spirit: Victory in the Context of Language, Culture, and Identity.”
The event was opened by the head of the department, Associate Professor Vüsalə Ağabəyli, who emphasized that Victory Day is an eternal source of pride in the historical memory of the Azerbaijani people. She noted that this victory represents not only a military-political achievement but also a moral and cultural triumph.
Professor Kamalə Cəfərova spoke, stating:
"Victory Day is the highest expression of our people’s unity, love for the homeland, and national identity. On this day, we have preserved not only the freedom of our lands but also the integrity of our language, culture, and spirit."
Associate Professor Mahirə Hacıyeva then discussed the impact of Victory Day on Azerbaijani literature and language, highlighting how patriotic motifs in contemporary literary discourse have acquired new significance.
Finally, the roundtable participants shared their reflections and memories related to the 44-day Patriotic War and Victory Day.
In her concluding remarks, Department Head Vüsalə Ağabəyli stressed the importance of instilling the idea of Victory as a foundation of national identity in the consciousness of the younger generation. She also highlighted the key role of the Department of Linguoculturology as a carrier of language and culture in this process.
