On January 17, acting rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), Professor Afgan Abdullayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Azerbaijan Dan Ianku. Greeting the guest Professor, A.Abdullayev expressed satisfaction with his visit. Speaking about the university, the 80th anniversary of the university would be celebrated this year, professor added. He informed the guest about University's history, international relations, and the process of teaching. AUL is one of the most prestigious higher education institutions, different languages are taught, language and cultural centers operate here, he said. Speaking about the international relations of AUL Professor A.Abdullayev said that the university has partnership with prominent universities. He also noted that co-operation with the Romanian universities would be important for the university. Providing information on events held at the university A.Abdullayev noted that the event "Let’s immortalize our national traditions and customs" are held in the end of each month. Students and teachers come to the university in the national dress the same day, he said. Expressing gratitude for warm reception, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Azerbaijan Dan Ianku expressed satisfaction with the visit to AUL. The diplomat said that he began his diplomatic activity in our country last year. He stressed that he has been thinking over strengthening bilateral relations between our countries since operating. He noted that one of the main issues is to develop educational relations between the two countries. He expressed his confidence that AUL students will be interested in learning Romanian language and culture. The ambassador highly appreciated the event “Let’s immortalize our national traditions” and as a result of a joint collaboration to implement such an initiative will be met with great interest. During the meeting, exchange of views were carried out on the prospects of future cooperation, the establishment of joint projects, establishment of university relations. After the meeting the guest got acquainted with the language and cultural centers operating at the University. It should be noted that the meeting was also attended by the ambassador's diplomatic adviser Mihaela Ianku.
