On February 10, acting rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL),  Professor  Afgan Abdullayev received the Israeli ambassador Dan Stav. Welcoming the Ambassador A.Abdullayev expressed his pleasure of seeing him at the university. He spoke about Center for Israel and the Middle East Studies and its activities. The professor said that the opening of the center supported by the Embassy of Israel. Students are interested in learning Hebrew, Israel's history, culture, art, literature and other areas, as well as the center, benefited from the center which is equipped with a rich library, he said. A.Abdullayev brought into attention of the guest that among the honorary doctors of the university was former Israeli president Shimon Peres and the American Jewish Committee Executive Director David Harris. Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman during his official visit to Azerbaijan in 2012, came to AUL and by his support 3 AUL students studied in Israel, he added. Dan Stav, in turn, said he was glad of visiting the University and expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome. He praised the work of the Centre for Israel and Middle East Studies. Cooperation in the field of education is of great importance in  bilateral relations,  he said and expressed confidence in further expansion of cooperation with the embassy  and the university. Views around student exchange programs between universities of Azerbaijan and Israel, as well as issues related to the implementation of joint projects were exchanged. At the end the Ambassador got acquainted with the activity of Center for Israel and Middle East Studies.
