Rector of AUL Kamal Abdulla had a meeting with the US Ambassador

Robert Secuta delivered a lecture at "Ambassadorial Hour" On November 30, Rector  of Azerbaijan University of Languages ​​(AUL),Full member of ANAS, Honored scientist Kamal Abdulla had a meeting with the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Mr.Robert Secuta in order to deliver a lecture within the framework of the project "Ambassadorial  Hour. " K.Abdulla thanked Mr.R.Secuta for accepting the invitation of AUL and agreeing to deliver a lecture at "Ambassadorial Hour": He mentioned :"I hope this meeting will be very beneficial to both students and will be of great interest to you. " Talking about the activities of the American Center in AUL,Mr.K. Abdulla also touched upon the problems of  teaching the English language at University. According to him, steps are being taken to strengthen English language skills not only of the students majoring in English but also of other specialties: "For us English is a common base of this university. We can prepare our students specializing in American studies and British studies teaching them not only English but also history, culture, literature and current socio-political situation of America and England. " K.Abdulla also dwelt on the prospects of cooperation. "We are thinking of a much wider intellectual stand," said the rector, mentioning the exchange of students and teachers here, invitation of prominent personalities to lecture. Rector expressed his hope that the Ambassador would support AUL in these issues. In his turn, Ambassador Mr. R.Secuta touched upon the activities of the American Center. He characterized English teaching as an important issue to be focused.. According to the diplomat, the Embassy wants to supply teachers with new resources for teaching English more efficiently: "We also need offers on the Azerbaijani part. The main goal is to help the Azerbaijanis learn English. " After the meeting, Mr.Ambassador delivered a lecture to the students and teachers   of the Faculty of International Relations and Management at AUL about the US-Azerbaijan relationships. Mr.Ambassador R.Secuta noted that Azerbaijan gained its independence in 1918 for the first time and that the state, called the People's Republic, was the first Republic to give women the right to vote. Mr. Ambassador emphasized that the US was always on the side of Azerbaijan and will always support our country. Then he spoke about the history of establishing diplomatic relations between our countries. He said “the relations between Azerbaijan and the United States are improving, and the two sides work together in different directions for greater achievements of independent, prosperous and democratic Azerbaijan.” Mr.Ambassador said there are many fields where that Azerbaijan and the US can cooperate. Stressing that Azerbaijan plays an important role in the fight against terrorism and extremism, Mr. R.Secuta stressed that cooperation in energy security and combating terrorism is of great strategic importance for the region. Speaking about the prospects for cooperation in the field of transport, Mr. Ambassador also touched upon the cooperation in the field of education. He said that many Azerbaijanis have been studying in the US within the framework of  different study  programs and that they are interested in providing the  American youth with education here, as well. At the ongoing interactive format, Mr. Ambassador mentioned future cooperation plans, multiculturalism traditions, some and other issues existing in both countries. At the end of the meeting Mr. Ambassador R.Secuta wrote his best wishes in the Book of Memories of AUL.
