The International Family Day at the AUL Confucius Institute

On 16 May the students’ scientific seminar dedicated to the International Family Day “The Educational Traditions of Azerbaijani and Chinese Children” was held at the AUL Confucius Institute.

The Director of Confucius Institute Professor Rafig Abbasov made an opening speech and spoke about the great importance attached to the family traditions in the epic of heroism, “The Book of Dede Korkud”. He stated that children were considered the main value of the family for the Oghuz, and the parents’ obligation was to pay special attention to their physical and spiritual development. R.Abbasov also spoke of the role of Confucianism in the development of children, recalled the great Chinese philosopher Confucius’ words “The state is a big family and the family is a small state”.

The teacher of Confucius Institute Chen Siaocen who spoke at the seminar about the traditions of family education in China based on the principles of “Education since Childhood”, “Love and Austerity“, “Righteousness”, “The Personal Example of the Parents”. He also pointed out that the traditional Chinese education aims at developing independent, industrious, polite and devoted children.
