An Event Dedicated to the 157th Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore was Organized at AUL

An event dedicated to the 157th anniversary of a prominent Bengali polymath who reshaped Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism Rabindranath Tagore was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages. The event was organized by the initiative of the Center of Indian language and Culture and “Sangat” Indian club. The Ambassador of India to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr Sanjay Rana gave a detailed speech on Rabindranath Tagore’s creative work. The ambassador also gently reminded that Rabindranath Tagore was the first Asian to receive a Nobel Prize ever. He later concluded his speech with the examples of charity works done by the poet.

Vice Rector for International Relations at AUL Jala Garibova also made a speech and emphasized the importance of organizing events of this kind in shaping students’ understanding of the Indian culture. Vice Rector also highly appreciated the activities done by an Indian club “Sangat” in organizing innovative events to develop students’ knowledge and skills.

Indian language instructor at AUL Roopali Sinha also expressed his gratitude to the University Administration as well as the Ambassador Mr Sanjay Rana for supporting “Sangat” Indian club. He spoke about the activities done by the club and stated that the main objective set by the club was to promote Indian language, culture, philosophy, customs and traditions.

At the end, a film about Rabindranath Tagore’s life and activity was shown and poems, quotes and songs by a prominent poet were cited.
