Azerbaijan University of Languages (the AUL) holds the I International Scientific Conference “Heydar Aliyev: Multiculturalism and the Ideology of Tolerance” dedicated to the 95^th Jubilee of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev with the support of the New Azerbaijan Party and Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism.

The sections of the conference have been organized at the Universities of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Russia, China, Ukraine, Belorussia and Georgia.

The sections of the conference in different countries continue their work. The following sections have already been held: the section on “The Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan Is the First Democratic Republic in the East” at Ural Federal University after B.Yeltsin in Russia; the section on “Heydar Aliyev’s Role in the Development of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Relations” at Kiev National Linguistics University in Ukraine; the section on “Heydar Aliyev and the Turkic World” at Ataturk University in Turkey; the section on “Modern Azerbaijan: Social, Political and Economic Development” at Erciyez University in Turkey;  the section on “Above the Borders: Russia and Azerbaijan: the Practice of Intercultural Dialogue” at the State Russian Language Institute after A.S.Pushkin; the section on “Multiculturalism, Social Security, Immigration, Freedom” at Southern Lazio University in Italy; the section on “The Dialogue of Languages and Cultures as a Factor of Co-existence in the Polycentric World” at Moscow State Linguistics University, the section on “East-West: Intercultural Dialogue in the XXI Century” at Samara Branch of Moscow Pedagogical University, the section on  “Heydar Aliyev’s Role in the Development of Azerbaijani-Georgian Relations” at Tbilisi State University after I.Javakhishvili.

On 22 April Huzhou University (the People’s Republic of China) held the section on  “One Belt – One Way: Learning of Multiculturalism” of the International Conference dedicated to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The section was attended by the delegation of Azerbaijan University of Languages, the Faculty and students of Huzhou University, the staff members of the Centre for Intercultural Dialogue Researches and the representatives of the Chinese Embassy to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The section started with the demonstration of the documentary on the outstanding state figure Heydar Aliyev’s life and activities. Further the event went on with the reading of the letters of congratulations and gratitude of the President of Huzhou University Zhang Licin and the Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, Academician Kamal Abdullayev.

In the opening speech the researcher of the Institute of Eastern Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Professor Solmaz Tohidi recalled that the policy of multiculturalism founded by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being developed successfully by President Ilham ALiyev in the modern period. The Professor stated that multiculturalism is the state policy in Azerbaijan, multiculturalism has turned into our people’s lifestyle and today a legal basis has already been created for the further development of tolerance, one of the characteristic features of our people.

The Director of Confucius Institute operating at Azerbaijan University of Languages, Professor Rafig Abbasov gave a speech on “The Silk Road in the Political Legacy of the Azerbaijani People’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev”. The Professor stated that Azerbaijan is a country of tolerance and multiculturalism, Azerbaijan which is developing in this strategic line defined by the National Leader has formed the system and model of multicultural values to be an example for the world.

The Director of the Centre for Higher Education Researches of Huzhou University, Professor Yan Denke gave a speech on “The Intercultural Dialogue on the Silk Road”. He stated that for over two thousand years Azerbaijan has been playing the role of a bridge in the dissemination of science, culture and ideas between East and West on the historical “Silk Road”.

The Director of the International College of Huzhou University, Professor Zhu Din focused the attention to the importance of building cooperation among the youth of European and Asian countries, uniting the efforts in the advocacy of mutual understanding and sharing the experiences. He stated that Azerbaijan is a multicultural and multi-confessional country. Speaking of the political course pursued by Azerbaijan in this direction, the Professor focused the attention to our country not only as a geographical bridge between East and West but also as a bridge of culture.

The event was accomplished with the presentation of the book “Azerbaijan – China: the 25^th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations” reflecting President Ilham Aliyev’s multifarious activities.
