The Section of the International Conference Dedicated to the National Leader’s 95th Jubilee in Rome

Azerbaijan University of Languages (the AUL) holds the I International Scientific Conference “Heydar Aliyev: Multiculturalism and the Ideology of Tolerance” dedicated to the 95th Jubilee of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev with the support of the New Azerbaijan Party and Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism.

The sections of the conference have been organized at the Universities of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Russia, China, Ukraine, Belorussia and Georgia.

The sections of the conference in different countries have started their work. The first section was held on the theme “The Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan Is the First Democratic Republic in the East” at Ural Federal University after B.Yeltsin in Russia, the section on “Heydar Aliyev’s Role in the Development of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Relations” took place at Kiev National Linguistics University in Ukraine, and in Turkey the section on the theme “Heydar Aliyev and the Turkic World” was held at Ataturk University, while the theme of the conference section held at Erciyez University was “Modern Azerbaijan: Social, Political and Economic Development”. The State Russian Language Institute after A.S.Pushkin held the section on “Above the Borders: Russia and Azerbaijan: the Practice of Intercultural Dialogue”.

On 18 April Southern Lazio University (Italy) held the section on “Multiculturalism, Social Security, Immigration, Freedom” of the International Conference dedicated to the 95th Jubilee of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event was attended by the representatives and faculties of different universities and scientific-academic circles of Italy, France, Moldova and Lithuania.

The Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Italy Mammad Ahmadzadeh gave a speech in which he underlined the presence of the historically-formed multicultural traditions and values and high ambiance of tolerance in our country. The diplomat also spoke of the state policy pursued to maintain these traditions and values as well as our country’s efforts and initiatives in the promotion of inter-civilizational dialogue. He stressed that the foundations of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan as a state policy were laid by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and that this policy is being successfully continued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

The Vice-rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, Professor Afgan Abdullayev pointed out that different events have been envisaged at 13 universities in 11 countries in the frames of the international scientific conference dedicated to the 95th Jubilee of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the initiative of the AUL Rector, Academician Kamal Abdulla and that the given event was one of them. In connection with the event he read the letter of congratulation and gratitude of the Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, the Full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Honoured Scholar Kamal Abdulla.

The President of the Security and Freedom Foundation of Italy Felice Romano, Professor Alessandro Figus, the Rector of Cassino University Giovanni Betta, the President of Link Campus University Vincenzo Scotti, the President of KORE University Salerno Cataldo and the chief of the Italian representation of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism Sandro Teti expressed their opinions on the peculiarities of multiculturalism and tolerance in Azerbaijan.

At the event the Professor of Azerbaijan University of Languages Azad Mammadov (“Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan”), Professor Anar Baghirov “Multiculturalism and Religion, Azerbaijani Experience”), the Chief of Staff at the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Isakhan Valiyev (“The Azerbaijani Model of Multicultural Security: in the Context of the Struggle Against Religious Extremism”), the members of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Professor Zohra Aliyeva (“The Traditions of Tolerance in Azerbaijan”), as well as the professors of Italian Universities of Genoa, Catania, Link Campus, Roma Tre, the French University of Nimes, the Lithuanian University of Klaipeda, the professors of the International Administration Institute of Moldova made speeches on different themes about multiculturalism. The speeches appraised the high ambiance of tolerance in Azerbaijan, the maintenance of multicultural traditions and values in Azerbaijan; thorough information was provided on the bases of our country’s policy of multiculturalism, the present legal basis in this field and the achievements. The speeches underlined the importance of such events in the presentation of Azerbaijan’s multicultural values in the world.
