On May 23, 2019, a round table was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages on the topic:  “the Press of Azerbaijan Yesterday and Today”. The round table was organized jointly by the Chair of the Literature of the Foreign Countries and Chair of Virtual Journalistics. Akif Aşırlı, founder and editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Şərq Qəzeti”         (Newspaper of the Orient) spoke of the history of journalism, policy of press and information in the period of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, information security. Müşfiq Ələskərli, chairman of the Trade Unions of Journalists, deputy chairman of the  Council of Press of Azerbaijan, spoke of the present day agenda of the press, problems and methods of approaching them, classical and  technological aspects of jounalistics. The speakers at the round table touched upon the spiritual hereditariness in journalistics and statehood notions. They thanked the administration of the University for creating conditions for them for reviewing the history of journalistics and highly appreciated the organization of such round tables. Sevinc Zeynalova, vice-rector on research issues, deans of faculties, chairpersons and teaching staff took part at the round table. The round table ended with discussions.
