“Que sais-je” Intellectual Competition

Intellectual competition “Que sais-je” (What do I know) was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages. It was jointly organized by Francophone and Centre of French Language and Culture and the chair of French Lexicology and Stylistics. The competition was participated by the French speaking students of the Faculty of Education (“Les Mariannes” and “Inoubliables” teams), of the Faculty of International Relations and Management (“Le Succes” and “Metropole” teams), and of the Faculty of Philology and Azerbaijani Journalism (“Deja-vu“ team) and the Faculty of Translation (“La jeunesse”) took part at the competition.

Making an open speech, head of the Chair of the French Lexicology, Professor Dr. Gülnarə Sadıxova welcomed the students and spoke of the importance of intellectual competitions for them. It played an important role in widening the general world outlook of students.

Dean of the Faculty of Education professor Fikrət Cahangirov and advisor of the rector Anar Osmanlı spoke about the role and success of the Centre of Francophone and French Language and Culture, which it played in the development of teaching the French language at the University and wished success to the students. Professor Fikrət Cahangirov emphasized that the Center has played an exceptional role in passing the pedagogical practice of students in different cities of France.

Various questions concerning the culture, history, civilization of France and the French language were asked and answered by the students at the intellectual competition.

As a result of a three-stage competition, by the decision of jury consisting of the teachers of the French language the team of the Education Faculty “Les Mariannes” occupied the first place and the members of the team were given certificates, at the same time, each member of the team was presented 20 AZN coupon to Baku Book Centre by the Francophone University Agency.

It should be noted that the team of the Faculty of International Relations and Management “Metropole” and the team “La jeunesse” of the Faculty of Translation won the second place, the team “Deja-vu” of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism won the third place in the competition.
