Academician Kamal Abdulla Met the Canadian Delegation

Academician Kamal Abdulla, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, met the Canadian Ambassador to Germany, and Stefan Dion, Canadian special envoy in the European Union and Europe, as well as Christopher Cuter, Canadian Ambassador to Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkmenistan.

The rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages said that he was pleased to see the official guests at the University and noted that the visit of the Canadian delegation to Baku will contribute to the expansion of relations between Azerbaijan and Canada.

Academician Kamal Abdulla gave information about Azerbaijan University of Languages and said that among the graduates of the University there are many employees of embassies and men of civil service.

Stefan Dion expressed his satisfaction for being in Azerbaijan University of Languages. He said that the Prime Minister of Canada is interested in the further development of relations between Azerbaijan and Canada:

“First of all, I would like to note that I am a professor as well and it is a great pleasure to meet the teaching staff and students. During my visit to Baku, I had a chance to meet the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, State Committee for the Affairs of Family, Women and Children and other organizations. We are looking for different initiatives for cooperation. Favorable work will be done in this direction after the departure of our delegation from your country”.

Ambassador Christopher Cuter spoke about the current cooperation on education between Azerbaijan and Canada. According to him, 240 Azerbaijani youth study in Canada on the account of the Azerbaijani state. He pointed out that the universities of Toronto and Waterloo are interested in cooperation with the Azerbaijani universities.

Rector Kamal Abdulla highly appreciated the initiative and pointed out that he is ready to cooperate with both of them.

Then the delegation met the teaching staff of Azerbaijan University of Languages and exchanged views with them.
