Kamal Abdulla met the New Ambassador of India

On March 14, academician Kamal Abdulla, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, met the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India Shri B.Vanlalvavna newly appointed to Azerbaijan.

Rector Kamal Abdulla said he was glad to see him at the University. Congratulating him on his appointment to Azerbaijan and wished him success in his diplomatic mission. Mentioning that the Indian people are one of the ancient and decent, most important peoples of the world and Azerbaijan cherishes a particular love for them. He informed the ambassador about the project of "Ambassador's Hour" at Azerbaijan University of Languages and invited him to take part in the project. Speaking about the activity of the Centre of the Hindi Language and Culture at the University, he suggested establishing a centre of the Azerbaijani Language and Culture one of the Indian universities, too.

The rector expressed his confidence the Ambassador will support the development of relations between the two countries. He noted that the students of the University learn the Hindi Language and culture with great enthusiasm and the mutual exchange of employees will be effective in this way.   For learning the ancient Sanskrit Language academician Kamal Abdulla suggested to carry out joint researches.

Ambassador Shri B.Vanlalvavna expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. He said that there are many perspectives, which Azerbaijan may suggest to the world countries. Talking about his meetings in Azerbaijan, the ambassador said that he was interested in developing cooperation in the field of education. Thanking for creating good conditions, the ambassador noted the activity of the Centre of the Hindi Language and Culture at the University, which plays an important role in the propagation of India. The ambassador said that all the issues proposed by the rector would be considered and the possible options would be analyzed.

The rector and the ambassador discussed the future perspectives of the development of the intergovernmental relations in the field of education.

After the reception rector Kamal Abdulla and the ambassador Shri B.Vanlalvavna attended the Holi Festival organized by the Centre of the Hindi Language and Culture jointly with the Hindi Club of “Sangat”. The students were informed about the history and traditions of the festival, performed the national Indian dances and painted their faces with the symbol of the holy colors of the holiday at the festival. The participants of the event enjoyed the dishes of the national Indian cuisine at the festival.
