Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages Met Deputy-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela

On February 21, 2019, academician Kamal Abdulla, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages met Ruben Dario Molina, deputy-minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela on the affairs of Asia, Near East and Oceania. Rector Kamal Abdulla expressed his pleasure to see the guest in the University. He declared that the visit of the deputy minister to the University will strengthen the relations of Azerbaijan University of Languages with the Venezuelan universities and embassy. He expressed his disappointment in connection with the undesired events ongoing in Venezuela and believed that the people of the country will leave the undesirable situation behind with responsibility and dignity. He said that Azerbaijan is one of the devoted friends of Venezuela in the Southern Caucasian Region. He spoke of the idea of institution of a joint commission for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Venezuela and for the development of relations in the sphere of the study of languages and cultures of the two countries. The rector informed about the project of “Ambassador’s Hour” and invited the ambassador to take part in the project in order to meet the teaching staff and students of the University. Ruben Dario Molina thanked for the sincere reception and declared that the sphere of education is very important in creation of bilateral and international relations. He spoke about the importance of the study of languages for the construction of relations between the history and culture of the guest peoples. He conveyed information about the Venezuelan universities. Vice-rector of the University on academic issues Professor A. Abdullayev said that Azerbaijan University of Languages is 70 years old and focused attention on statistic data and spoke about the directions of activity of the University. He said that Spanish is being taught at the University over 20 years and over 200 students have learned Spanish since. Then the two parties discussed mutual cooperation, issues connected with the future in-sevice of teachers, exchange of students, joint projects and future perspectives. It should be noted that Kristopher Berroteran, the first Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Venezuela to the Republic of Azerbaijan, took part in the reception.
