A tournament of friendship of table tennis was held between the employees of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan and the teachers and students of the Confucius Institute at the Azerbaijan University of Languages. The tournament on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, which is also their spring holiday, was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Director of Confucius Institute of Azerbaijan University of Languages Rafig Abbasov noted that the signature of an agreement on sports and technical cooperation between the Olympic Committee of China and the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan after the official visit of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China in 2005 laid the foundations of the Chinese and Azerbaijani relations. Rafig Abbasov also noted that the Confucius Institute of Azerbaijan University of Languages is planning to develop cooperation between the national tennis teams, attraction of students to this type of sports, exchange of trainers and organization of seminars.
