An event was organized at the Azerbaijan University of Languages on the occasion of the International Day of Volunteers

An event dedicated to the International Day of Volunteers was organized by the chair of the Lexicology and Stylistics of the Azerbaijan University of Languages. The participants of the ceremony were conveyed information on the International Day of Volunteers. It was declared that voluntariness is an unpaid activity based on one’s personal will and free choice. Voluntariness is a useful social activity aimed at the solution of social, cultural, economic, ecological problems.

Professor Mesmekhanum Gaziyeva, head of the Chair of Linguo-culturology, spoke of the initiative of rector Kamal Abdulla, sent the students for practice to the schools for the internally displaced pupils. She noted that the teachers and students took part in it on their own will.

Seyavush Ali-zade, president of the Public Association of the alliance of the World Youth, Janoghlan Ilyasov, chairman of Voluntary Student Program “ONE” and Murad Aliyev, of Report Information Agency, spoke of the importance of the voluntary activities and stressed that the volunteers are a great force in the country in holding reliable forums.

Janoglan Ilyasov noted the development of volunteerism in the republic and gave detailed information on the establishment and operation of the "ONE" Student Volunteer Program.

Speaking about volunteerism movement Prof. Afgan Abdullayev, AUL vice-rector on academic issues noted that everyone joins this movement on his own will and aspiration. He noted that the said is a goodwill movement. According to the vice-rector, it is a pleasure that the movement has more than 20,000 volunteers in Azerbaijan and its number increases day by day. By stressing the importance of the event at the end of his speech he thanked everyone who contributed to its organization.

The event featured volunteer students' videos and video clips about their activities.
