The International Arabic Language Day was Celebrated at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL)

On December 15, the International Arabic Language Day was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL).
Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, as well as the representatives of Embassies of Embassies of the Palestinian State, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Sudan and Egypt, and, attended the event dedicated to the Arab Culture Festival that was organized by Dr. Ulviyya Huseynova, the Senior Teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages under the Faculty of International Relations and Administration within the framework of the “Year -2017- “Islamic Solidarity Year”.
Before the event, Rector of AUL, Full Member of the ANAS, Honored Scientist Kamal Abdulla met all the representatives of the Arab states. Expressing his great pleasure from seeing the guests at the university, Kamal Abdulla congratulated them on the International Arabic Language Day. Noting the strong ties between Azerbaijan and Arab countries, the rector expressed his confidence in their further development. Speaking about Arabian studies at AUL, Kamal Abdulla said “it is necessary to strengthen ties between universities in Arab countries and Azerbaijan,” adding that “there is a great need for the assistance of representatives’’ diplomatic corps in this direction.
Rector Kamal Abdulla said the Arabic language is a sacred language, as well as the language of the Koran. Mentioning the Arabic language as one of the most important directions of AUL, Rector Kamal Abdulla said that many students at the university are specializing in the Arabic language and studying the language thoroughly. He noted that many languages, including the Arabic language, are a vivid example of multi-cultural policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He said the Ambassadors would contribute to the expansion of the Arabic language speciality at University and invited them to deliver lectures at the club "Ambassadorial Hour". Rector Kamal Abdulla said that Ambassadors who participate at the event love and support Azerbaijan and wished their countries peace and prosperity.
The Ambassador of the Palestinian State Nasir Abdul Karim said he was very delighted to be at AUL on the occasion of the International Arabic Language Day. Noting that the Arabic language has more than 2000 years of history, the Ambassador mentioned that this language was well known all over the world 1400 years ago through the Holy Koran. He underlined the role of the Arabic language in the promotion of the world heritage, medicine, astronomy and culture among other nations for almost 800 years. Mentioning the number of the Arabic native speakers to be more than 450 million, this number in European countries is also sufficient and that the Arabic language is the only language that helps bring all the Muslims together and exchange their opinions. He thanked everyone who contributed, including Rector of University, Kamal Abdulla, for organizing the grand event.
Then a video clip was demonstrated about the Arabian world and the students majoring in Arabic studies of the Faculty of International Relations and Administration.
Then AUL students performed the chorus and popuria, some Arabic songs such as, "Ya rabbi dum", "Helva", "Habibi ya nurul ayn", "Ya habibi yalla" were sounded and Palestinian student Nazih Al Kilani recited an Arabic poem. The dance groups "Palestine", "Iraq" and "Dalga" performed "Demak Yagbab", "Dabke" and other Arabic dances. Azerbaijani National dance "Garabagh yallisi" and the song "Mehriban olaq" were also performed there.
The exhibition of cuisine and symbols of Arab states was held in the main building of AUL, too.
