Ambassador of India met with students at AUL’s “Ambassador’s Hour”

On October 10, Indian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Sanjay Rana met with the students of the University within the framework of the new “Ambassador’s Hour” project at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL).

First Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Afgan Abdullayev expressed his satisfaction with the Ambassador’s visit to the university. Professor said that there is a very close and useful cooperation between the Indian Embassy and AUL, and expressed confidence that students will enjoy this meeting.

Expressing his gratitude for warm reception and hospitality, Ambassador S. Rana praised the administration’s support and care for the development of relations between the embassy and the university. The Ambassador delivered a report on “Mahatma Gandhi: Truth and Nonviolence”. In his speech he gave detailed information about the first years of M. Gandhi’s life, activity in South Africa,  role in India’s struggle for independence, the role of “Salt” and “Release of India”, the letter to Hitler. Speaking about Gandhi’s philosophical thoughts, “Gandhi Talisman”, the ambassador spoke about his “Non-Violence-Ahimsa” and “Wish You Have Changed!”. The ambassador also talked about M. Gandhi’s civil service and human services and informed his students’ education.

The meeting continued with answers to questions of interest. The book was presented by the embassy to the students.

Finally, Ambassador S. Rana wrote his heartfelt memories to AUL’s memorial book.

Note that, a new club called “Ambassador’s Hour” was created at the university. The purpose of this project is to establish relations with the AMU ambassadors not only with the relevant centers, but also with other structures and to provide them with lectures at the university. The Indian Ambassador’s lecture is the first event held within this project.
