About AUL

The Francophone University Centre

The Francophone University Centre was established in the frames of the joint cooperation of Azerbaijan Univerisity of Languages (the AUL) and the Francophone Univeristy Agency in 2017, and at present is functioning at Azerbaijan University of Languages.

The official opening ceremony of the Centre on 4 April 2017 was attended by the Francophone University Agency’s Director for Central and Eastern Europe Mr. Mohammad Ketata, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Orelia Bushez and other officials.

The main goals of the Francophone University Centre are:

to increase the number of the students of French;
to improve the students’ expression and communication skills in French;
to provide the Faculty with pedagogical resources;
to enhance the academic and professional skills by training methodologists;
to use innovative, motivating and class-developing means (for instance, new reference books, application of didactic bases), didactic live equipment (visual conference, e-books, internet tasks, language laboratories);
to facilitate the attendance to the video conferences with the Central and East European member universities of the Francophone University Agency;
to organize training for the Faculty in cooperation with the Francophone University Agency;
to organize classes in different fields with the participation of the teachers of French invited from France;
to involve the Faculty in the participation in the Francophone University Agency’s annual scholarship programs and provide profound information on these programs;
to organize conversation clubs in French;
to join the video conferences with this Agency’s member Francophone Universities.

The Centre is a space of free usage of various resources for the Faculty (books, journals, documentary film bases, films, DVDs). Since the beginning of its activities the Centre has been provided with different didactic resources with the financial support of the Francophone University Agency (the smart board, computers, textbooks, dictionaries, the fiction in French, etc.).

Training courses for the French Faculty, French classes, different circles (theatre circle, French cuisine, teaching French through games, literature circle), conversation clubs (with the partipation of the students invited from France and the Azerbaijani students who got their education in France), competitions and various events are organized at the Francophone University Centre in accordance with the annual plan.

Since 2012 a traditional youth festival has been organized in Bucharest (Romania) with the support of the Francophone University Agency. Three students have already represented the AUL in this festival decently.

In the academic year 2016/2017 the AUL teachers of French took part in the international conferences and pedagogical training sessions with the support of the Francophone University Agency.

Note: Francophone University Agency was established in the city of Montreal (Canada) in 1961. Since 8 December 2015 it has been headed by Jean-Paul Gaudemar. The Agency is cooperating with 817 Univerisities and scientific research institutes of 106 countries. The Agency has 18 regional offices and representations in the world. Since its establishment the Agency has been the program of cooperation and mobility researching in French, supporting students and teachers. Within a year the Agency offers about 2000 scholarship programs to the Faculty of the member Universities. The annual budget of the Agency consists of over 40 million Euros with the support of Canada, Belgium, Switzerland and other French-speaking countries with France at the head.
