“Press Services at higher schools of Azerbaijan:
organization of work, obligations, realities and perspectives”

On 22th of October at AUL held a round chair on topic “Press Services at higher schools of Azerbaijan: organization of work, obligations, realities and perspectives” on the initiative of Public relations and Press Service department of AUL. Professor Samad Seyidov, Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), Member of Parliament and Chairman of Azerbaijani Delegation at the PA CE, Aflatun Amashov (Head of Azerbaijan Press Council), Bayram Huseynzadeh (Head of Public Relations and Press Service department of the Ministry of Education), Zeynab Kazimova (Head of Press Service of AUL) and heads of other press services from universities of Azerbaijan. 
Greeting the guests S. Seyidov notified that the significance of the Mass media and public relations is enermous in the modern period. Information about Azerbaijan education system is published inmass media every day. It is necessary to organize Press Services at every higher school to gradually expand and increase of the importance of the process: “Azerbaijan University of Languages has taken significant steps in this direction within a short period. Public Relations and Press Service department has been organized at our university. After organizing the press service the activity of the higher school is seen. Certainly, AUL was not stagnant before. But now, the press service delivers this activity to the public by means of mass media.
           In her turn Head of the public relations and press service of AUL Zeynab Kazimova said that the higher schools of Azerbaijan should be adapted to the requirement of the modern world. They have to do their best to introduce Azerbaijan to the world and make the world to know Azerbaijan and this mission should be fulfilled with dignity. It is very essential to supply the mass media with information of events, innovations and arranged ceremonies to form a good opinion in the community about the universities. These measures are very significant in forming positive opinions in our country and in the world as well. Z. Kazimova notified that after organizing the press service all the events have been elucidated in mass media. On July for the firs time a briefing was arranged for mass median among the higher schools of Azerbaijan.
Zeynab Kazimova gave information of the result of the inquiry provided among the higher schools before the ceremony. “Only 19 out of 40 universities have responded to our inquiry. We found out that only 10 universities have got press service. In the rest of the universities this work is done by vice-rectors”.
Aflatun Amashov (Head of Azerbaijan Press Council (PC) brought to Samed Seyidov’s attention that “Polyglot” (the published organ of AUL) will be a member of PC and congratulated him on this issue. In his speech the head of PC reminded that the law “About getting information” was passed in 2005 and it is very important document.
A. Amashov delivered to participants’ attention that the press service of AUL has a leading position among the analogical structures of the country.
Bayram Huseynzadeh, Head of the Department for Public Relations and Press Service conveyed the minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Misir mardanov’s greetings and said such an initiative had been put forward by AUL and the ministry had highly appreciated this project. In the end B. Huseyzadeh presented the head of Press Service of AUL with a Letter of Thanks for her services in developing the bilateral relations between Mass Media and AUL and indelivering the achievements to the public in the field of education.
Zamina Aligizi (The head of the press service of Education Office of Baku), Mansur Ibrahimov (the head of press and information department of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University), Alovsat Amirbayli (The head of public relations of Khazar University) and representatives of corresponding structures took part in the discussions.
