On September 24 2009 the day of German language was observed at Azerbaijan University of languages. The dean of the faculty of German language Ulduz Aslanova, collaborator of the department of German language’s stylistics and lexicology Charkez Gurbanov, head of the department of Practical English Dilara Ismayilova, collaborator of German Academic Exchange Service (GAES)Martina Lisa, representative of Unity of German language Gulenber Pirazarova participated at the ceremony. The main goal of the ceremony was to increase students’ interest in German language
Ulduz Aslanova, dean of the faculty of German language, informed participants that it’s already 60 years German has been taught in Azerbaijan: “The German started to be trained at the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute in 1936-1937 academic years. In 1949th faculty of German language was set up under to API. That event could be considered as the beginning of the history of AUL”.
According to Charkas Gurbanov’s words it’s very important to learn the language of the nation that favored a lot of genii such as Hegel, Goethe and Heine to the humanity.
Representative of GAES Martina Lisa and other speakers stressed that learning of German language and culture will develop civilized relations between the two nations.
In the end students took the floor and recited well-known great German poets’ poems.
