Italian ambassador at AUL
On November 4, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, vice-president of PA COE, Professor Samad Seyidov received the newly appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Italy to Azerbaijan Mario Jorjo Stefano Baldi.
Bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, their cooperation on economy, culture, health and especially education were discussed in the meeting.
First wishing the new ambassador success in his new job, S.Seyidov went on speaking on the Italian language: “Italian is an elite language. It proves itself in culture, art, education and other fields. As a University we are proud of teaching Italian to our students. We have a lot of achievements in this field”.
S.Seyidov mentioned that, along with English AUL train other languages as well. Our students are eager not only to learn the foreign languages but also the culture of those states: “We have also an Italian center here in our University. Our relations will further develop traditionally”.
The ambassador stated that a number of works was done to train Italian: “Apart from being a competent rector and political figure S.Seyidov is a friend of Italy. We know that Italian is not such a wide-spread language in the world. But I believe that it’s possible to undertake some steps to propagandize Italian in Azerbaijan. It would be great to have here more language and cultural centers. So it’s very significant for us to build broad relations with your University”.
Expressing his satisfaction with the level of relations between the two states M.Baldi said that he would do his best to expand the ties between Azerbaijan and Italy during his activity in Azerbaijan.
Later the ambassador was acquainted with Information Resources Complex and Italian center in AUL.
